Sri Sadguru Sai Charitable Trust
Sri Sadguru Sai Charitable Trust is a non-profit organization nestled in Kaggalipura, on the outskirts of Bengaluru. Although just a turn away from the busy Kanakapura Highway, the approach takes you through serene village lanes, ending at a peaceful corner surrounded by greenery and artfully painted walls. It feels less like entering a facility and more like stepping into a sanctuary.
The Trust was founded in 2016 by Ms. Meenakshi, affectionately called Amma by the residents. What began as a chance act of kindness has since blossomed into a mission of compassion. Today, Amma and her small but dedicated team continue to nurture this home with unwavering commitment. Their mission is "To facilitate a better quality of life, with dignity by caring, protecting, supporting, rehabilitating them specially the little ones, abandoned in our society." Today, the Trust provides care for 86 residents, including 18 children, differently abled individuals, and people with mental health challenges. To Amma, every soul reflects Sainath. Each resident is given clean and safe housing, three wholesome meals a day, evening snacks, milk for the children, medical attention, and—above all—love and dignity. The residents themselves maintain the home, keeping it immaculately clean.
Our visit began with a warm welcome from Meenakshi Amma and Mr. Satish. Amma's ever-present smile and gentle presence set the tone, as she personally guided us through the Trust and introduced us to the love-filled world she has built. From the youngest child to elders in their seventies, every resident greeted us with folded hands and a heartfelt "Sai Ram." The home radiated positivity, leaving us humbled. At the entrance, a large pooja hall stood as the heart of the Trust, where aarti is performed twice daily to Sainath with fresh, home-grown flowers. The atmosphere was filled with faith and peace, a clear sign of the blessings that surround this place.
Moments of joy with the children at the Trust
As Amma walked us through the residence, kitchen, and prayer areas—each sparkling with care—we met residents who shared their stories. We heard of elders abandoned by their families, individuals left without medical help, and children who had no one to care for them. One young man became mentally challenged after enduring violence from the family of the girl he loved. Among the children was a four-year-old girl, lovingly named Sai Lakshmi by Amma, who has been cared for at the Trust since birth. Every resident, young and old, lovingly calls Meenakshi " Amma " a reflection of her role as their mother and protector. These stories moved us deeply, leaving us both humbled and inspired to strengthen our support for such homes.
As part of our " Grocery Project " initiative, we selected Sri Sadguru Sai Charitable Trust as our very first partner. Pooling resources among ourselves, we obtained a list of their essential needs, purchased the groceries, and delivered them on 13th September. This small gesture was our way of extending support, with complete transparency through bills and details of the supplies.
