BELAKU Aahara 4: A Month of Giving That Grew Into a Movement

An inspiring collaboration with Luxoft to support 245 children across Bengaluru.

This December, something extraordinary happened — something that began quietly inside an office and ended with 245 children across Bengaluru smiling a little brighter.

At Chinivar Foundation, BELAKU Aahara has always been our monthly ritual: a steady, humble effort to provide nourishment and essentials to children in shelter homes. But this time, the program didn’t just continue — it grew, expanded, and transformed into one of the largest CSR events we’ve ever been part of.

And it happened because an entire company — Luxoft — chose to share its light with us.

This is our story. A story written by those who held the boxes, walked into the homes, met the children, and felt the emotion firsthand.

🌲 It All Started With a Tree at Luxoft

The Christmas Giving Tree stood tall at the centre of Luxoft’s office — covered not with ornaments, but with handwritten tags representing real needs of real children.

When we placed the first set of need-tags on Christmas Giving Tree, we had no idea how deeply it would resonate.

Each tag carried a simple request from a child: a bottle of shampoo, a packet of dal, a school notebook, a warm blanket, baby care items.

Not luxuries. Just needs.

Within a day, we started hearing stories — employees discussing which tag to choose, teams coming together to buy in bulk, people spontaneously volunteering to shop after work.

We watched in amazement as the tree transformed into a symbol of collective compassion. What began as a monthly program suddenly had wings.

💛 When Employees Become a Community

Soon, the office felt like a buzzing community warehouse of kindness.

Employees didn’t just donate — They participated. They engaged. They cared.

HR coordinated with such patience and precision. Housekeeping staff took pride in helping pack boxes. All worked side-by-side with Luxoft volunteers who stayed back after hours just to ensure nothing was missed.

As BELAKU Aahara volunteers, our monthly visits are usually simple, quiet acts of giving. But this… This was a full-scale movement — powered by generosity and teamwork.

🚐 The Journey Begins

When the day of distribution arrived, our hearts were full. The vans were loaded with care — each box labelled, sorted, and checked twice.

We knew we weren’t just delivering items. We were delivering the love of hundreds of people.

And with that thought, our BELAKU Aahara journey began — four homes, one after another, each with its own story, its own children, its own emotions.

❤️ THE FOUR HOMES WE VISITED

And the moments that stayed with us.

1. Thayimane — 120 Children

Thayimane, a home rooted in discipline and cultural grounding, welcomed us with graceful dances and heartfelt prayers. The children performed with sincerity and pride — their coordination, posture, and confidence reflecting the home’s strong value system.

Many of us volunteers found ourselves smiling through teary eyes. But what touched us even more was what happened afterward.

A Moment of Pure Discipline and Grace

After the performances, volunteers distributed small packets of sweets they had personally brought. We expected an excited rush — after all, children love sweets.

But instead, we witnessed something beautiful.

The children formed a straight line, waited silently, and thanked every volunteer individually before stepping aside.

Their discipline, humility, and gratitude left many of us speechless.

What we delivered to Thayimane:

  • 41 items | Worth ₹45,307
  • Rice, dals, vegetables, oil
  • Hygiene kits & school supplies and much more.

We walked out with a deep sense of respect for the values this home instils.

2. Amrutha Shishu Nivasa — 75 Children

This stop was perhaps the most emotional for us.

Walking into the nursery of Amrutha Shishu Nivasa — seeing babies as young as two months reaching out with tiny fingers — it hit us how crucial BELAKU Aahara’s support is.

These small lives rely entirely on the care around them.

What we delivered:

  • 25 essential items worth: ₹19,984
  • Baby-care essentials, formula, hygiene products, innerwear — every item felt like an offering of comfort to those who cannot speak for themselves.

Many of us held back tears as we placed the items down, whispering silent prayers for these little ones.

3. Sampattu — 25 Children

Sampattu greeted us with serene shloka chanting — soft yet powerful. The cultural grounding of these children was evident in their tone, posture, and discipline.

One of the things that moved us deeply was learning about the children’s backgrounds. Many of the children at Sampattu come from various regions across Karnataka, with a significant number arriving from North Karnataka — areas that often face higher poverty, drought, and migration challenges.

Some children come from families struggling with extreme financial hardships. Some have no guardians left. Some were brought to the home by well-wishers who wanted to ensure they received education and care.

Knowing this made every packet we delivered feel even more meaningful.

What we delivered:

  • 26 items | Worth ₹12,119
  • Rice, pulses, vegetables
  • Cleaning liquids, soaps
  • Essential utilities

We left Sampattu humbled by the strength and resilience of these children.

4. Janaseva — 25 Children

Janaseva is more than a shelter — it is a protective and nurturing environment offering schooling, safety, and medical support. The children surrounded our team with curiosity and excitement.

We had stood in this home during BELAKU Aahara 3, yet our hearts whispered that the children deserved an even bigger gesture of love and care.

One child tugged at a volunteer’s sleeve and whispered, “Please come again next month.” And in that moment, we knew BELAKU Aahara would continue stronger than ever.

What we delivered:

  • 24 items | Worth ₹8,472
  • Food staples
  • Hygiene kits
  • Daily utilities

A small donation here creates a large impact.

🌟 BELAKU Aahara — A Monthly Program Turned Movement
